A few showers and thunderstorms will dot eastern Carolina much of the week. A moist and unstable air mass will produce a few showers on Tuesday. It will dry out a bit Wednesday and with more sunshine we'll have the warmest day of the week. Afternoon highs should reach the upper 80s away from the coast. It will remain in the 80s both Thursday and Friday.
A cold front will approach the area by Thursday bringing another good chance for showers and thunderstorms. The shower threat will diminish Friday as the front moves offshore. Cooler and drier air will filter into the area Friday night through Memorial Day Weekend. Afternoon highs will be near 80° each afternoon with overnight lows in the 50s. We should see mainly sunny skies each afternoon Saturday through Monday.
