Much warmer air will move into eastern Carolina over the next few days. It will replace the much below normal air that has been dominating the weather pattern since the weekend. In fact, temperatures have been averaging about 10 degrees below normal since Saturday.
The warmer air will take temperatures into the upper 70s and lower 80s Tuesday then well into the 80s both Wednesday and Thursday. Some isolated showers and storms may develop Tuesday night and again Wednesday but most locations will remain dry. A weak cold front will drop into the area late Thursday producing more clouds and a better chance for storms. The front will move south of eastern Carolina by Friday allowing slightly cooler air to move into the area for a couple of days. Friday and Saturday will register highs in the upper 70s to lower 80s. Another strong warming trend will begin by Sunday and Memorial Day, taking temperatures well into the 80s.
