Several tropical systems have developed in the Atlantic Basin over the past two to three weeks. We've already seen 11 named tropical systems which is normal for an entire season. The midpoint of the season is around September 10th so we're likely to see another above normal year. Hurricane Isaac made landfall in southeastern Louisiana this week but the big question looming is whether we'll see a storm in eastern North Carolina. Most of the hurricanes that hit our area occur between the middle of August and late September. We've been lucky thus far but will it last. Another tropical wave is developing well east of the Leeward Islands Wednesday evening and it will bear watching as we head into next week. In the meantime let's enjoy some sunshine and warm conditions as we head into Labor Day Weekend.
