Big changes are expected in the weather pattern over the next week to 10 days. The early part of the week was dominated by a blast of cold air that sent most locations across eastern Carolina to record low readings. The cold will ease off during the middle of the week followed by a big warm-up by Friday and the weekend. Temperatures will likely return to the middle to upper 60s by Saturday and Sunday. A weak frontal system near the area could produce a few showers by Friday afternoon with the threat continuing through the weekend.
It appears that the warm-up over the weekend will be short-lived as another cold air mass is expected to push into eastern Carolina during the early to middle portion of next week.
