The First Half Of December Will Remain Mild

It now appears that temperatures during the first two weeks of December will remain above normal.

Temperatures have been quite mild across eastern Carolina over the past several days after a chilly November.  It looks like the above normal temperature pattern will continue for at least the next week to 10 days.  As we bask in the warmth, severe cold is enveloping much of western Canada, Alaska, Europe and China.  The big question for us is when will some of this cold air finally arrive in eastern Carolina.

Thus far it looks a lot like last year when other parts of the world were experiencing bitter cold while we had a very mild winter.  I certainly don't see much change for the next several days.  Putting up the Christmas tree and lights in this kind of weather just doesn't seem right although I have to admit to feels good not to have to fight the sting of winter chill.

There are some indications that colder air will be able to make some inroads into our area by the middle of the month.  The chilly air should arrive just in time for Christmas and The New Year but I'll take a look at those prospects next week.
