The Crazy Weather Takes A Break
It was last weekend at this time that we were measuring snow to nearly a foot for many inland north locations, and 4 to 8 inches for the rest of us, with lesser amounts along the beaches. But now that the new year has arrived, the snow has departed. We had some lingering snow for new years eve, but the majority of the white stuff was gone for the new year. At this point there is no major storminess on the horizon. This week we'll see some chilly temperatures, but not brutally so. The mercury will top out in the 40s and 50s with overnight lows in the 20s and 30s.
The computer models are having a difficult time resolving a system moving from the south. At this point the majority of the moisture stays to the south, with maybe some shower activity creeping into North Carolina on Thursday, but at this point it looks like the moisture stays south. We'll watch it. The long range models are pointing at another surge of arctic air for next week. It looks like we'll have to wait a while if you're a snow lover.
