A welcome change to autumn has come to eastern Carolina after a summer searing heat and frequent showers. Cold fronts have been sweeping the heat and moisture away as we continue into the first full week of autumn. On Monday night we'll see our first night of 40s inland while coastal communities will remain in the 50s. Warmer air will drive temperatures into the lower 80s by Wednesday afternoon but nights will remain quite cool due to clear skies, light winds and dry air.
The dry conditions have been welcomed by many farmers and gardeners after the wet summer. Farmers are finally able to harvest many of the crops that were planted earlier in the spring or early summer. Dry weather can be expected through the end of the week but it does appear another period of showers will be in the offing as we head into this weekend and next week.
In the meantime let's enjoy the great week ahead.
