The first strong surge of warm air arrived in Eastern Carolina on Monday. Afternoon highs soared to near 80° inland and near 70° on the beaches. Temperatures for the next few days will hit the lower 80s except lower 70s on the beaches. Weather conditions will remain dry through much of the week but showers and thunderstorms will arrive on Friday as a cold front advances through the area. Drier and cooler air will arrive for the weekend along with seasonable temperatures near 70°. Sunny skies can also be expected. We have finally broken the winter chill.
