It seems like showers pop up around every corner this year. The month of October has started off much like the summer with clouds and the ever-present chance of showers. A cold front will approach eastern Carolina on Tuesday causing additions showers and possible thunderstorms. The showers will likely continue into Wednesday before the front finally pushes offshore. We should begin to dry out Wednesday night into Thursday and the drying trend should last into the weekend.
A stronger cold front will arrive by late in the weekend but will likely have limited moisture. Consequently, shower activity over the weekend will be minimal at best. Colder air following the front will be felt across eastern Carolina early next week. In fact, some of the coolest air of the season will be on the way. Overnight lows will likely dip into the 40s over inland communities by the middle to latter portion of next week. Hopefully, we'll see some drier air as well.
