Moisture will be increasing across eastern North Carolina on Wednesday with unsettled weather expected through the end of the week. An area of low pressure across the southern Plains will spread clouds and moisture over the area Wednesday. The heaviest rainfall should occur Wednesday afternoon and evening with many locations getting a half-inch to inch of rainfall. The rain will taper off Wednesday night but a series of weaker storm systems will pass through the region Thursday and Friday. Many locations across our area are considered abnormally dry and this rainfall will alleviate fire concerns. The wildfire in Onslow County has already been helped by the rainfall Sunday. Additional rainfall should give the topsoil decent moisture for the next several days and diminish the fire danger.
