Rain And Cooler Weather For The East

After a prolonged period of dry hot weather, we finally get some relief in the form of rain and cooler weather.

Finally! A break from the hot and dry weather for the east. For the first time since the 12th of the month we're seeing measurable rain across the east, and there's more to come. A stalled out stationary front will be the focus for numerous showers and thunderstorms the next several days. It looks like the heaviest rain will fall early in the week, with a gradual drying trend towards the end of the week. It's possible that much of the east will pick up 2 to 3 inches of rain with more in some locations.

The reason for the pattern change is a large trough of low pressure across the east, replacing the ridge of high pressure that was giving us the very hot and dry conditions. This trough will be hanging around much of the week to come keeping our weather unsettled. There is an outside possibility of a storm coming up the coast at weeks end bringing wind and rain with it. But as the old saying goes, 'stay tuned'.
