Chilly weather has kept eastern Carolina chilly for the first two weeks of March but milder conditions are on the way by the weekend. Below normal temperatures will continue through Friday but temperatures will be warming up a bit by late in the day. We should see slightly above normal temperatures over the weekend. The warmest day should be Saturday with highs getting close to 70°. A cold front will approach the region by Saturday evening and that may pop off a few showers. Temperatures may be slightly cooler Sunday and Monday but afternoon highs should still reach the 60s.
At this point it appears the last half of the month we see more seasonable temperatures. If so, it means afternoon highs would hit the middle to upper 60s with lows in the lower to middle 40s. New long-range forecasts suggest the period from April to June will give our region slightly above normal temperatures with near normal rainfall. This forecast would suggest our soil conditions will be drying out a bit over the next couple of months.
