Eastern Carolina Will See Another Cool Spell Next Week

Eastern North Carolina may see more chilly temperatures next week.

Eastern North Carolina has seen very mild weather for much of the winter and spring.  Only recently have temperatures returned to normal with highs close to 70° and lows in the 40s.  It looks like we could see a significant cool shot head our way after Easter that could bring temperatures back into the 30s on one or two nights.  It is not uncommon for a cold snap in early April but it could be more damaging than usual.  The low temperatures would be a concern for area gardeners and farmers who have started with their seasonal plantings.  The season is about two weeks ahead of schedule and that could spell problems for those of us planted earlier than usual.  At this point it is not possible to determine with certainty whether this one to two-day cold event will occur.  However, it is worth monitoring as we head through Easter Weekend and early next week.  The most likely time for these chilly temperatures would be the middle to latter portion of next week.  Stay tuned!
