Eastern North Carolina In Moderate Drought

This winter season has been abnormally dry and much of the area is now in a moderate drought.

This winter season has been dry and mild which many in the area seem to enjoy but at some point we need to make up for the lost rainfall.

Most of the area is now in a moderate drought with no significant rain in the forecast.

Dry conditions are increasing our fire danger with outdoor burning and excessive water usage discouraged.

The spring season usually brings the area heavier rain with bigger storms as milder air to the south clashes with colder air to the north.

Eastern Carolina will be looking forward to some heavier rain this spring to help ease the drought conditions.
