It has been another mild winter across eastern Carolina but a shot of cold air will give us a chilly weekend. A strong cold front will push rapidly through our area on Saturday afternoon ushering in much colder air and gusty winds. Highs on Valentine's Day and Friday will be in the 50s to lower 60s then cool to the lower 40s by Sunday. A storm will form off the Carolina coast as the front pushes off the coast Saturday but should stay far enough out to sea to prevent any problems. A slow warming trend will begin early next week.
