Chilly Air will Return As March Begins

Our weather pattern will make it feel like winter as we move into the first week of March.

A chilly weather pattern is evolving across eastern Carolina that will likely extend through the first week of March.  A strong cold front will push through the area by the weekend with colder air.  Highs over the weekend with be in the upper 40s during the afternoon with overnight lows from the upper 20s inland to the lower 30s on the beaches.  We may see a few sprinkles over the weekend but most locations will remain dry.  Low pressure will develop off our coast by late Saturday but will be too far away to have much impact on our weather.  Dry and unseasonably chilly conditions will linger into early next week.  In fact, long-range indicators point to below normal temperatures through the first two weeks of March.  The first real burst of spring warmth may come a bit later than usual this year.  What happened to the ground hog forecast of an early spring?
