Breaking The Back Of Winter

The very cold air is coming to an end over the next few days.

It appears that warmer temperatures are on the way after several weeks of below normal temperatures.  We'll see highs in the 50s over the weekend and we could reach the 60s next week.  The warmth comes after one of the coldest winters we've seen in several years.  December averaged almost 11 degrees below normal and January about 5 degrees below normal  It now appears February will be warmer than the preceding two months.  Of course, we could see more cold air in March but let's enjoy the nice weather over the next week.  By the way, the WITN Weather Station has gotten 10.3" of snow so far this winter season.  That beats the 8.2" last year and the 30-year average of 4.1" for an entire season.  I guess it is about time for a break.

I see that the weather called for some light rain, but now where have seen that it was calling for a sleet and snow mix. It has been doing both off and on in New Bern and Vanceboro. I'm not getting my hopes up for any warm weather it when I am seeing this and temps of 41.
