Active Tropical Season May Have One More Burst Of Activity

Another burst of activity from the tropics may occur before the season is over.

Tropical season goes from June 1 to November 30 each year.  Eastern North Carolina usually experiences most activity from the mid-August to mid-October.  Hurricane Irene created many problems for our area and most of us are hoping it will be quiet for the remainder of the season.  Some of the long-range models suggest disturbed weather may develop in the Caribbean Sea or Gulf of Mexico by early next week.  If so, the moisture is likely to track northward into the Southeast.  It is too early to tell if a storm will actually develop but it does look like more rain may be on the way to our area by the middle of next week.  In the meantime we can all enjoy the beautiful forecast for the next several days.
