Eastern Carolina will enjoy temperatures well into the 70s and lower 80s through Friday. Winds will gradually shift to a southerly direction by late Tuesday ushering in the warmer air. Generally dry conditions are expected until late Friday although an isolated light shower or sprinkle could occur on any day. Many trees and shrubs are blooming and the warm weather this week will do little to hold it back. Farmers and gardeners are finally getting busy after the chilly March.
A strong cold front will bring an end to warm conditions by the weekend. The cooler air will likely be preceded by showers and thunderstorms late Friday into Saturday morning. The rain should end by Saturday afternoon or evening as temperatures top out in the upper 60s. We could see overnight lows in the lower to middle 40s next Sunday and Monday as skies become mostly clear.
