A real taste of springlike temperatures will arrive across eastern Carolina by early next week. It is entirely possible that many locations could see afternoon temperatures as high as 70° or higher by next Wednesday through Friday. Record highs at this time of year are around 75° to 80° and we may come close to those temperatures for a couple of days. The main reason for the warm-up will be a ridge of high pressure that will become anchored just off the Southeast coast. The high will turn our winds to the southwest and usher in very warm air.
Enjoy the warmer temperatures because we are likely to see a return to colder conditions by the end of the month. it is not out of the question that we'll see another winter storm before the true beginning of spring. Regardless, the warmer air will feel good to many of us after suffering through a few weeks of snow, ice and low wind chills.
