Another cool week can be expected across eastern North Carolina but a major shift in the weather pattern will begin next week. Afternoon highs will top out in the upper 50s through Friday. A storm system will bring a bout of rain by Thursday night and Friday. Once that system exits the area, a major warm-up will spread into eastern Carolina. Temperatures will be close to 70° by Sunday and many locations will be well into the 70s or lower 80s by the middle of next week. Dry conditions will resume after the rain ends late Friday. It finally looks like "real" spring will arrive.
