A Chilly Weekend On The Way

Colder air will filter into eastern North Carolina for Friday through the weekend.

The coldest air of the fall season will arrive across eastern North Carolina for the weekend.  A strong area of low pressure will develop along the North Carolina coast on Friday night causing some rain.  The rain will end from south to north Saturday morning followed by some clearing later in the day.  The low will pull down unseasonably chilly air from the Midwest.  Temperatures will be chilly through the weekend.  Some locations may not make it out of the 50s until early next week.  Meanwhile, overnight lows will dip into the middle to upper 30s early Sunday.  We could see some moderate to heavy frost across northern inland sections early Sunday, especially north and west of Rocky Mount and Roanoke Rapids.  Patchy frost will be possible as far east as Highway 17 so stay tuned for possible advisories or warnings over the weekend.  Slightly warmer air will arrive early next week.
