The relentless summer of 2010 keep going with hotter than average temperatures. June was an extremely hot month as highs averaged nearly 6 degrees above normal. July is normally our hottest month and it has lived up to its reputation. So far we've seen temperatures about 1 degree above normal, with only a few days to go. The longer range outlook into August looks hot. New forecasts suggest another sweltering month of hot afternoon and muggy nights. So far the tropics have been quiet but that should change soon. I have seen hot and dry summers turn into a wet late summer and fall due to tropical influences. It is too early to know if that will be the case this year but all indications point to an active season of storms over the next few months.
