Moderate Drought Returns To A Portion Of Eastern North Carolina

Hot and dry weather has caused drought conditions to return to northern sections of North Carolina.

Above normal temperatures and below normal rainfall is drying out the landscape in eastern North Carolina.  Northern sections of the state from Ahoskie westward to Roxboro are now in a moderate drought.  Counties included in eastern North Carolina include Hertford, Northampton, Halifax, Edgecombe and Nash counties.  Most of the other counties in our area are considered abnormally dry.  The hot weather will continue but there will be an increasing threat of some rainfall as we head into the weekend.  It can come soon enough for many farmers and gardeners.
