The Heat Is Coming Back
The heat will be returning to eastern North Carolina after a brief vacation.
The past few days have felt quite nice across eastern North Carolina. High temperatures have been in the lower to middle 80s with sunny and dry conditions. We began to see the warm-up on Wednesday as highs reached the middle to upper 80s. The relative humidity has been on the increase as well. More heat and humidity can be expected into the end of the week and weekend. Highs should reach the lower to middle 90s over the weekend with heat index values around 100°. We could see a few widely scattered thunderstorms but most of the weekend should be free of rain. It may be time to make sure the air conditioners are ready to endure the long summer season.
