Wet Weather Pattern Continues

Rain will return by late week after a brief break on Wednesday and Thursday.

The area of low pressure responsible for clouds and rain across the area is moving away from eastern North Carolina Wednesday evening.  A strong surge of warm and dry air will move across the area on Thursday ahead of a cold front dropping southward on Friday.  The cold front will trigger showers and thunderstorms by Friday afternoon and evening with some strong storms possible.  We haven't seen much severe weather during the spring but the upcoming event could spawn a few severe thunderstorm cells.  The front will linger into Saturday giving us a continued chance for significant rainfall.  It appears the front will slowly weaken by Sunday allowing more sunshine to return and continue into Memorial Day.  Highs will only reach the lower to middle 70s Saturday then warm into the lower to middle 80s Sunday and Monday.
