Summer Forecast

The new summer forecast has been issued by the Climate Prediction Center.

It could be a rather hot and sticky summer across much of the Southeast, including eastern North Carolina.  The Climate Prediction Center issued their summer forecast for the United States and it shows that much of the Southeast will have above normal temperatures and near normal rainfall.  The coolest part of the nation will be in the Midwest and Plains where temperatures should average below normal.  By late summer and early fall the Southeast could become wetter than normal as the tropics become active.  Coastal areas of the Carolinas should have wetter than normal conditions from August through October due to possible impacts from tropical systems.  An early look at next winter would indicate much different conditions than last year.  The Southeast should have near normal temperatures and below normal rainfall.  I guess we're due for a dry period after all the precipitation we had last winter.
