High pressure just off the North Carolina coast will bring warm southwesterly winds across the area Thursday through Saturday. Relative humidity levels will not be that high so heat index values should stay in the upper 80s. By the weekend a cold front will reach us and may cause an isolated shower or two on Saturday afternoon. The front will be followed by cooler air for Mother's Day with highs only near 70°. It appears that a dry pattern may be setting in for the next week or two. I'll try to cover that angle tomorrow or Friday.
