High pressure just off the North Carolina coast will remain stationary over the weekend bringing mostly sunny skies and warmer temperatures. In fact, this weekend will be the warmest of the entire year. We should see highs reach the upper 80s Saturday and 90 or lower 90s on Sunday. The immediate coast will see highs in the middle to upper 70s although the northern Outer Banks could see highs reach the lower 80s. Winds will blow from the southwest at 7 to 15 mph both days. The stationary high pressure will begin to move east by Monday allowing a cold front to drop into the area at night. Frontal passage could trigger some showers and thunderstorms later Monday into Tuesday. More seasonable upper 70s to lower 80s will be the order of the day after Monday. Between now and Tuesday get ready for some very summer-like temperatures.
