It has been very wet across eastern North Carolina for the past several months. The last month with below normal rainfall was October when 1.38" fell at the WITN Weather Station. Conditions became wet in November and have remained that way until April. Since April 1 the WITN Weather Station has received only 1.08" of rainfall, making it one of the driest months in over a year. The weather pattern will maintain the dry regime through the upcoming weekend as temperatures soar into the middle to upper 80s. The next chance for showers and thunderstorms should develop late Sunday night or Monday as a cold front approaches the area. Normal soil moisture conditions still continue across eastern North Carolina.
