It has been a cold winter across eastern North Carolina with only a few mild days. Most of the mildness has come over the past two weeks. Even with the warming trend of late, it has still averaged between 2 and 3 degrees below normal so far this month. Normal temperatures are about 11 degrees higher now than in mid-winter and we are slowly heading up. By the end of March our normal high is in the upper 60s. The first official day of spring is Saturday and it will feel nice. We should see temperatures near 70 under mostly sunny skies. Another cold front will arrive late Sunday and cool us down early next week. It is a long haul to true spring but at least we're beginning to see a few glimpses of what is to come.
