Watching Coastal Storm Tuesday Into Wednesday

A storm will emerge from the Gulf of Mexico Monday...then move up the coast, and affect the east Tuesday and Wednesday.

We're looking at two more dry days before our weather turns stormy Tuesday into Wednesday. A storm will emerge from the Gulf of Mexico and move up the coast Tuesday into Wednesday. What this means for us isn't exactly clear. But so far...the models have been consistent with bringing the storm just off of Cape Hatteras by Wednesday. Then the questions arise. Will the cold air be close enough to change rain to snow. If the rain does change to snow...where will the rain snow line set up. Also the track is critical. Typically a storm that tracks closer to the coast can pull in mild and moist air...with rain the predominant precipitation. If the storms tracks further south and east..there's better chance of cold air getting into the system to cause a quicker changeover. We'll have to see a few more runs of the models to get a better handle on the rain and snow possibilities. We do know the system will affect the region Tuesday into Wednesday. After the storm the weather quiets down for the end of the week.
