There has been plenty of cold air and precipitation during this winter. In fact, I don't think I've ever seen so much rainfall in eastern North Carolina as I have during this winter season. Over 30 inches of rain has fallen since November and more is on the way next week. This weekend will be a nice change from all of that misery. We'll see highs reach close to 60 degrees and we should see plenty of sunshine. Even coastal areas that received 8 to 9 inches of snow last Friday night and Saturday will bask in the sunshine as highs reach the middle to upper 50s. Enjoy this weekend because I do see more cold air after the rain early next week. Temperatures will likely drop into the upper 40s for highs by the middle and latter part of next week.
