Temperatures for the first two months of winter averaged between 2 and 3 degrees below normal in eastern North Carolina. We have now entered the month of February and it remains chilly. Another storm system will bring rain to our area on Friday into Saturday with temperatures remaining in the 40s much of time. Colder air will follow the weather system late in the weekend as the clouds move away. It appears that another storm system will bring rain by the middle of next along with a another shot of cold air. These repetitive shots of rain and cold have become a persistent pattern since December and there is no end in sight. Unlike last weekend it appears the system this weekend will be mostly rain although we could see some light snow or flurries in our northern counties late Saturday or during the evening. No significant accumulation of any snow or ice is expected this weekend.
