Chasing The Snow

It is the middle of winter but will there be snow in eastern North Carolina?

We've had a couple of chances for snow this winter but so far most folks have not seen any snowflakes.  Another chance arrives this weekend as an area of low pressure moves northeast out of the Gulf of Mexico.  Colder air will be moving into the area so at least some portions of eastern North Carolina may see their first snowflakes of the season.  Eastern North Carolina is very large so it could be snowing in one area while another just gets rain.  Predicting where the rain/snow line will be two or three days in advance is almost impossible.  As of Wednesday afternoon the computer models suggest the best chances for accumulating snow and ice would be across the northern counties in our area.  Southern and coastal locations are the most likely areas to see rain.  Regardless, it will be quite cold across the area with temperatures not likely to get out of the 30s over the weekend.  Stay tuned to WITN-TV or WITN.com for updates.
