Chill Is Here To Stay

It looks like the first two weeks of the New Year will be quite chilly.

A series of cold fronts will be moving through eastern North Carolina as we head into the New Year.  Colder air will follow these fronts and will push temperatures to well below normal levels at least for the next two weeks.  The first front will be accompanied by showers as it crosses the area on Friday.  It should clear out for the weekend but temperatures will not make it out of the 30s, despite plenty of sunshine.  Overnight lows will drop into the lower 20s, except middle to upper 20s along the immediate coast.  The big question mark regards whether we'll see any storms that could produce frozen precipitation.  So far the models do not indicate anything for through the weekend but that could change next week.  Stay tuned!
