It will be a chilly Christmas Week across eastern North Carolina.

The weather pattern is definitely turning chilly as we head into the holiday season.  There will be several cold fronts to move through the area over the next week to 10 days.  The first cold surge arrived last night with another stronger shot to come into the area this weekend.  A significant winter storm should develop by Saturday but at this time it appears most of the snow will stay mainly to the north and west of our area.  We could see a brief changeover to light snow across our northern and inland counties on Saturday night.  Another system will dive southeast into our area Sunday night and could produce a few light snow showers or flurries.  Another strong system will approach the area by Christmas Day.  It is too early to tell what kind of influence it will have on our weather but folks need to stay tuned to later forecasts as we get closer to Christmas, especially if travel is involved.  Below normal temperatures are likely to persist through the end of December.
