Heavy rainfall during the late summer and fall have finally eased the drought conditions that have been across the area for the past few years.  Rainfall for the year at the WITN Weather Station has now exceed the normal for the year, which is just over 50 inches.  The nor'easter in the middle of November contributed most to the abundant rainfall when almost 9 inches of rain fell over three days.  More rain is on the horizon as a storm system will develop in the northern Gulf of Mexico overnight.  The storm system will reach the South Atlantic Coast on Saturday bringing moderate rainfall to our area.  It looks like it could be a rainy winter as storm systems from the Gulf of Mexico should be frequent visitors over the next few months.
