Severe Weather Threat Late Wednesday

A strong storm system is expected to affect eastern Carolina on Wednesday, with the potential for severe weather.

Although we're about to head into December, severe weather could be in our near future. If the weather models remain consistent, we're going to have an area low pressure passing off to our west, which would leave us on the warm side of the system. If we're on the warm side of the system, that means we could be in the critical triple point area. This means we're south of the warm front, but east of the cold front. In this position, there is the greatest potential for severe weather. There's also the potential for a possible severe event happening at night, which makes it even more dangerous. Keep in mind this blog is being written on a Sunday evening, with the storm still a few days away. A lot of things could happen between now and then. The storm could track further west or east, which would affect the potential for severe weather. Whatever the case, it looks like we'll be seeing a soaking rain, perhaps in excess of 2 inches. Stay tuned!
