Fall foliage is typically slow to change in eastern North Carolina. This year is no different but we are seeing some nice color changes in our deciduous trees. The slow change will continue to occur this weekend. Temperatures will drop to the upper 30s to lower 40 late Thursday night and into the lower to middle 30s early Saturday. There will likely be frost advisories posted for much of our area by Friday afternoon or evening. The combination of chilly nights and mild afternoons, coupled with shorter daylight, enhances the color change. The chill will ease over the weekend as temperatures warm to the middle 60s Saturday and lower 70s by Sunday afternoon. Overall, it should be a great weekend to watch the beautiful colors across the area.
