Settling Into Fall

The month of September is usually warm in eastern North Carolina but temperatures gradually begin to cool off.

September is typically a pleasant month across eastern North Carolina.  The afternoons are quite warm but the evening begin to cool down.  Our average high at the beginning of the month is around 87 while overnight lows are around 67.  By the end of the month our afternoon high averages in the upper 70s while nighttime lows are in the upper 50s.  The air begins to dry out during the month so even the warm afternoons are easier to take.  I don't thing this September will be unusual.  The first week of the month gave us slightly below normal temperatures.  Seasonably mild conditions are expected for the next few days with a warm weekend on tap.  Enjoy the nice days because the amount of daily sunlight is getting shorter and we'll have some chilly days by the end of next month.
