Labor Day can be a time of anguish for meteorologists who look for tropical storms and hurricanes. The second week of September is considered the most likely time of the year for tropical development. Many folks remember Labor Day Weekend in 1999 when Tropical Storm Dennis slammed much of eastern North Carolina with strong winds and heavy rain. Our upcoming Labor Day Weekend looks real nice compared to that year. We should see plenty of sunshine with highs in the 80s. The beaches will get some pleasant weather as well. Highs should reach the lower to middle 80s with partly sunny skies. The surf could be a bit on the rough side so it is advisable to check on local conditions before going in the water.
