Tropical Storm Danny has caused the National Hurricane Center to issue a Tropical Storm Watch for portions of the North Carolina coast.  The area includes Cape Lookout northward to Duck.  It basically means that tropical storm conditions are possible within the next 36 hours.  The  most likely time for those conditions along our coast would be Friday night into early Saturday.  On the current track the strongest winds and heavy rainfall should stay well off the North Carolina.  Waves could build to about 6 to 10 feet on Friday night and early Saturday as the storms passes by the coast. The current track brings the center of the storm about 75 miles from Cape Hatteras, at the closest point, late Friday night before heading out to the northeast on Saturday.  Locations across inland North Carolina should not have significant impact from the storm .  Some showers can be expected over the weekend but that is because of a cold front approaching the area.
