The weather pattern across eastern has been wet this summer and this is a dramatic change from the past few years. Intermittent showers have dotted the area many afternoons during July. So far this month the WITN Weather Station has received about 8 inches of rain. The normal for July is about 6 inches. More showers are in the forecast through the end of the week and weekend so we could add to the total amount for July. A strong, moist tropical flow of air will continue to bring ample moisture. In addition, a cold front will stall just north of the area over the next few days keeping the air unstable and ripe for showers and thunderstorms. At this point it appears this type of weather pattern could extend into August.
