It has been a long time since we've wet soils across eastern North Carolina but it looks like our weather pattern is undergoing some changes. Much of the area east of Interstate 95 remains abnormally dry. A warm and moist flow will continue this weekend as a cold front stalls just to our northwest. The front will begin to move into our area late Sunday. The bottom line is that we'll get a daily dose of widely scattered showers and thunderstorms. Those showers will be on the increase by Sunday afternoon as the front approaches the area. The showers will likely linger into Sunday night and Monday. Significant rainfall is possible as this front crosses the region on Sunday night and it could help to put a dent in our abnormally dry conditions.
