The weather this weekend will try to make up for the nasty and cold conditions we endured just a few days ago. Temperatures should soar to 70° on Friday and well into the 70s over the weekend. Lots of sunshine will accompany the much warmer temperatures giving a spring like feel to the air. Milder than normal conditions will last through the first half of next week before reality slaps us in the face by the end of the week. We've had bouts of very warm weather before. One year in college I remember how we got into the 70s regularly during the first two to three weeks of March, only to be followed by snow on March 24. I also remember the 7-inch snowstorm that hit eastern North Carolina on March 24-25, 1983, after what had been a mild winter with no snow. Although it is tempting to say winter is over, I prefer to wait until early April since March weather can be so unpredictable.
