January and the first week of February have been decidedly chilly but a pattern change will bring much warmer temperatures this weekend into much of next week. The cold air that has been surging southward out of Canada will be blocked from our area over the next week. The pattern change will finally allow temperatures to remain above normal for several days. In fact, it is possible we could reach 70° on Sunday afternoon and again next Tuesday or Wednesday. It will be the warmest week that we've seen since December although we briefly saw a high of 71° on January 28. The big question is how long can this milder regime last. I'll take a better look at what we can expect beyond the warm spell on Friday.
