Flip-Flopping Models With Next Weeks Weather

Computer models having a hard time with storminess next week.

Last week it looked like we were in for a doozy of a storm...at least that's what the computer models suggested. Now it appears nothing like that at all. Originally a strong areas of low pressure would move through the northeastern Gulf of Mexico..then turn up the coast and head for North Carolina. Track is always critical with these systems. With the low tracking near the coast or offshore..this could allow more cold air to get entrained in the system. With a track further to the west we would be in line for heavy rain...mild conditions. Now this could be all for naught as the thinking now is moisture will come up the coast but in a more disorganized fashion. We should see much of Monday dry and mild...with some afternoon and evening showers. Monday nights looks wet...and if enough cold air mixes into the system we could see a changeover to snow into Tuesday. In fact...there could be a minor accumulation of snow into Tuesday. Another potent upper level disturbance moves out of the Ohio Valley..and heads towards North Carolina..on Wednesday...this bears watching if it strengthens. Right now we're thinking maybe a little bit of snow on Wednesday. Stay tuned!
