Some would argue that it took a long time but eastern North Carolina finally got a snowfall that should please any snow lover. Growing up around didn't give me much opportunity to observe the white stuff. I remember hearing the weatherman talk about a chance for snow and I would stay up half the night just to find a few flakes. It seemed like nothing happened most of the time and I was so disappointed. Forecasting has improved dramatically since my early years and, although by no means perfect, the snowfall forecast given a day in advance of the storm was about as good as it gets. Most of the area received three to six inches of snow and some of it is still around as I type this article on Wednesday evening. Of course, a real snow lover will never be satisfied with one snow for the entire winter. My task for them is to find another one. For others it will be a case of hoping for spring to come early.
