Winter Has Retreated From North Carolina But Will It Return Before Christmas?
The memories of the late November cold and snow showers have long faded into the almost springlike temperatures over the past week. We've seen high temperatures above 70° on three days over the past week while it reached 67° on Wednesday. It certainly is hard to imagine how we can see a White Christmas with those temperatures. I had someone ask me this afternoon if there was a chance we could get snow for Christmas. I told them our chances were slim to none and Slim seems to be heading out of town. Of course, I was only joking and with weather you can never know for sure this far ahead. I do expect a few cold fronts to bring some chilly air for a couple of days early next week. I don't expect the cold air to hold for long and that is why I think are chances for snow are quite small. I did tell her that Slim could change his mind and come back to town but I expect he'll be in the Plains, Midwest and Northeast where the chances for a White Christmas are almost certain.
